Bring On the Walls...
A lot has happened at the site in recent weeks, and the walls are up on the shop. Many people commented that the foot print of the store when we first began did't look very big - but as you can see - appearances can be deceiving, now the 'shape of things to come' can be seen, you have a better idea of how big it is.
With everything that has been going on, I have not seen the guys on site lately, as I have been dropping in on my way to work in the mornings. I was glad to have a quick catch up yesterday when a parcel needed dropping off on my way home - and I mentioned the video of the tanks being installed on our 'other' weblog, on our facebook page.
I put a little humour into the video, as is my won't, and I will be embedding it within these pages later - but if you an't wait for that click the link here.
Meanwhile - here is the latest view of the site - hope to have part one of the time lapse ready for launch this weekend!

I Cannot Wait Until Tomorrow!!!
Okay, call me a geek, but I have come into work on a Sunday - not just to do a blog update because I can do that from home, but because I have a bit of a clash of timing!!
Mondays are a very busy day in my job, there are a number of 'must do's' and I have come in to get the biggest one out of the way so that I have some spare time on my hands in the morning!
What's that got to do with this blog or Littleport I hear you ask? Glad you did - tomorrow a very major and essential part of the construction process will be happening - and it is something I do not want to miss...
Neither will you by the way - I will be making a video of it to upload - there have been pictures taken of it happening at other sites we have built, but as for myself I have never had the opportunity to see it happen first hand.
So what actually is it you ask? Well I will give you a clue - a petrol station would not be able to operate without this - other than that - you will just have to come back tomorrow and find out - won't you!!
In the meantime here is the current view of the site.
Don't forget to check in tomorrow to find out what is so exciting!!

Par for the Course?
Okay, okay the puns on the titles are getting a bit thin I know, but this is just so exciting, as each time I go down to the site something has changed.
Several changes today, the canopy posts are in and bricks are now going down too.
Having had a chat with Ops Manager Paul Deary today, I have been asked to be on standby with video recording equipment in the next couple of weeks, so you should be ready to see an embedded video on this blog in the not too distant future.
At his suggestion, we will also be having a facebook page up by the end of the week. So once again lots going on behind the scenes too.
I will sign off now with a view from my usual perch, showing the changes to date, though finding my perch lately has not been so easy as the post I used to find my place has been removed...
Once again I find myself saying that as it is a building site, I should have realised that this is also par for the course.
Keep watching...

A Very Structured Affair!
I also thought about using 'You've been Framed' as this posts title - but the end result is the same - take a look at this!
It is so nice to see some form appear - it the shape of things to come - the initial structure of the store.
Things are definitely coming alomg nicely!
Speak soon!

Strong Foundations...
All projects need a strong foundation, and a petrol station is no different, as you can see in this picture. Very different to a week ago !!
I am still compiling my photos for a time lapse project of the site - and I am confident that it will not be too long before I will have enough to give you all a sneak preview of things so far... Watch this space on that one.
There still may be a lot to do, but there has been lots going on, I am sure that there will be some major changes on the site very soon, so look out for the picture special when that comes too.

Here Comes Week Two
What a difference a week makes!
This is the scene as we go into week two - looks more like a building site - doesn't it. I cannot wait to come home this evening and get a look at how things are after today - we are really moving forward now!
Exciting stuff - isn't it!

Digger of The Day...
On my daily jaunt passed the A10 roundabout on Wisbech Road, upon stopping I was told that Jonathan and his son had been to look today - as Mr James junior (and potentially my future employer) apparently was quite keen on the diggers, I took this photo to put on the blog.
Hope you like it.
Should anyone following the blog notice that this image is not in the same place as usual - do not worry - this is an extra - I got the fixed point image too.
Amazing though - what a difference a day makes!

Simply Ground Breaking!
Okay, so on the way home the other day I stopped off to take my time lapse series photo, but something was different. The workmen were still there digging into the ground.
One of the chaps introduced himself politely, asking who I was and why I was taking photos! He then began telling his collegues to look out for me and that I was 'okay'.
It is nice to know that I have just scored myself exclusive rights!
It was even nicer to see that lovely fen soil moving in preparation for a new store - our store to be built after so much planning and preparation.

Day Zero - The Calm Before the Storm
There will be in the next few weeks a veritable buzz of activity on the Wisbech Road roundabout on the A10 at Littleport, Cambs.
As a local resident myself, I am constantly being asked; "When are they starting?" with regards to our new build petrol station and convenience store.
Well by the time you read this you will know - it has begun!
I took a picture of the site on Sunday afternoon, which you can see below and every day I will be taking a picture from the exact same place, as a diary of the build. The image may not look much at the moment - but I am sure it will help underpin just how much of a change will occur!
Eventually, these images will make up a time laspe of the project, but between now and then I will bring you news and updates of the ins, outs and goings on, not to mention close up images of all the detail of what it takes to embark upon a project like this.
Trust me, it will be a learning curve for me to - I have never had such access to this sort of project.
We will also get updates from James Graven owner Jonathan James, every now and again giving us tit bits, facts and an inside view of how its going.
Check back tomorrow!
